Every burrito or bowl purchased at Zambrero sends a nutritious meal to someone in need in the developing world through our key distribution partner Rise Against Hunger.
Meals donated by Zambrero are packed, stored and distributed by Rise Against Hunger around the globe to people in need, primarily through school feeding programs. Zambrero customers and partners can also get involved to pack meals at Zambrero Meal Packing Days near the time of World Food Day every year.
Through established and vetted relationships with in-country partners, Rise Against Hunger meals are distributed securely to feed the hungry, mainly through school feeding programs with assurance that the meals are not exposed to the general market.
Last year our dedicated volunteers helped Zambrero pack over 319,000 meals to help relieve hunger in the Philippines and Australia. This year, we want to beat that record with Zambrero Meal Packing Events in five states across Australia. It’s a great way for our customers, supporters and corporate partners to get involved with our Plate 4 Plate initiative.
When six-year-old Cris was found in a rural slum in the Philippines, he had wasted away to 10.6kg and was severely malnourished. Read how Rise Against Hunger meals were able to support Cris’s family to bring him out of malnutrition and give him the the energy he needs to play and live a normal life.
Zambrero and Rise Against Hunger share a vision of a world without hunger and together we’ve created an easy way for Zambrero customers to join us in our mission to end hunger by 2030.
In spite of efforts, 43,000 people are turned away from charities every month due to demand for food outpacing supply. Most heart breaking is that children are one third of those going without. We’re grateful to Zambrero for committing to help bridge this gap.
