Founded in 1998, our key meal distribution partner Rise Against Hunger, formerly known as Stop Hunger Now, may have undergone a change in their name but the core of their mission, like ours, remains the same. This mission is to help end world hunger within our lifetime.
On 26th January 2017, Stop Hunger Now formally changed their name to Rise Against Hunger. When faced with a trademark challenge around the Stop Hunger Now name, the organisation viewed this as a welcome opportunity to redefine and evolve their pathways to combat world hunger.
With meal packaging still at the core of Rise Against Hunger’s operations, they have now added new pathways to end hunger that champion a multi-faceted approach to food relief.
Rise Against Hunger’s key pathways to end world hunger now include:
1. Meal distribution through school feeding, sustainable community and emergency response programs
2. Community partnership programs to sustainably alleviate poverty
3. International volunteerism and advocacy
Rise Against Hunger is committed to both meeting the immediate nutritional needs of communities facing hunger scarcity today and empower those communities to develop agriculture and income-generating initiatives to facilitate sustainable, long-term food security.
“We know hunger is a barrier to education, steady employment, health, infrastructure and economic growth,” said President & CEO Rod Brooks. “Our evolving mission includes new pathways to end hunger by getting nutrition to those in need and empowering communities on ways to become self-sufficient and alleviate poverty.”
Zambrero are very pleased to support Rise Against Hunger in its transition and are proud to provide continued support as a key donator via our Plate 4 Plate initiative.
