Rise Against Hunger, formerly known as Stop Hunger Now is Zambrero’s international distribution partner. The international relief agency works at the frontline of tackling hunger in 73 countries. To date it has served more than 255 million donated meals.
Last year Rise Against Hunger sent food packs to Cambodia, Haiti, Liberia, Nicaragua, Philippines, Sierra Leone and Vietnam among others. Research shows that one in three people in such developing countries suffer vitamin and mineral deficiencies.
A key reason Zambrero partners with Rise Against Hunger is their commitment to providing meals to support school feeding programs within poverty-stricken communities. Like Rise Against Hunger, Zambrero is passionate about breaking the hunger cycle, where receiving an education is typically the first step. The promise of a nutritious hot meal gives parents a clear incentive to send their children to school each day. Enabling children to not only be well nourished but learn and develop key skills that they would otherwise miss out on if otherwise in search of food.
The agency works with in-country partners who meet strict qualification criteria to ensure Rise Against Hunger food doesn’t end up on the open market.
Zambrero meals, distributed by Rise Against Hunger are a combination of rice, soy and dehydrated vegetables fortified with 23 essential vitamins and nutrients. The meals are designed to store easily, have a shelf life of two years and transport quickly. They have also been designed to easily adapt to the local culture that he meals are delivered to, allowing communities to add their own spices and additions that suits local culture and tastes.
Rise Against Hunger operates meal-packaging locations in 18 US cities and in South Africa, Malaysia and Italy.
It visits Australia regularly to partner with Zambrero on special meal packaging events funded by our donations, like the ones we’ll be holding on World Food Day hyperlink.
In 2015, Zambrero and Rise Against Hunger staff and customers joined together across the nation to pack 315,000 Zambrero-funded meals on World Food Day, destined to change lives in the Philippines and hunger stricken communities in Australia.
Zambrero and Rise Against Hunger also partner on an annual Vision Trip, where Zambrero employees visit a developing country see first-hand how Rise Against Hunger’s aid programs are having a positive impact.
